Adskaia pochta, no.1, 1906 (sample book reader; drag corners)
The goal of the project is to make USC's unique collection of Russian Satirical Journals produced during the revolutionary upheaval of 1905-1907 available on line, accompanied by a searchable database which offers detailed information on these rare periodicals, those who produced them, and their cultural and historical context.
To get started, click on the Browse Journals tab above to flip through the collection of journals. You can view the journals in three modes:
- use the full-size page flipper
- view and manipulate the images in PDF format
- view high resolution images and view data
This site allows you to browse the journals by issue or search the accompanying database. This includes information about the journal, its editors and publishers, as well as the writers and artists who contributed to them, and their writings and artworks.
If you'd like to create your own collection of journal pages, click on the My Selection tab.
For a Timeline of events of the Revolution of 1905, click on the Timeline tab. The timeline includes information on the basic events of the revolutionary period. For information on particular participants, artists and writers, go to Biographies.
A complete and searchable Russian-language of this site is in preparation. For more information on this project, go to About.
